Happy New Year Everyone!
Offline Ramblings:
Well here we are, the first sunday in January. Where did 2015 go? It just flew by. I hope that you all had a wonderful New Years Eve/Day.What did I do? Well truth be told, not a whole lot. New Years eve we opted to stay in and have a quiet night at home. It was a welcome change from such a hectic few weeks. We ordered takeout from our favourite Chinese restaurant and watched a movie. By 11:30 we were both falling asleep on the couch and decided to go to bed. So we were just dozing off as the new year was rang in. Kind of lame, I know, but thats ok. I don't mind staying in on NYE.
The next day we went out for dinner with my best friend and her husband. It was nice to finally see them. Even though we don't live too far away we have very different schedules, so we don't get to see each other as often as we'd like.

January Book Haul
This past week I brought more books into my house than I have since my summer vacation book haul. And I don't regret a thing, HA!
After learning that the Bout of Books read-a-thon was starting on Monday, January 4 I decided to stop by my library and pick up a few books.
(Click on the links to be redirected to the Goodreads description for each book)
I was browsing through my library's book sale section and I came across as hard cover copy of In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume. It was in great condition and only cost me $1.
These next two short books, I selected for the Bout-of-Books Read-a-thon.
Then yesterday (Saturday) I decided to go check out the deals at my nearest Chapters book store. I had a few gift cards given to me for Christmas and thought this would be a good time to use them.
Here is what I bought:
Open Heart, Open Mind by Clara Hughes was on sale for $10. Great deal!
Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories Volume II by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I now have the complete two book set.
The last two books I had never heard of before and found in the bargain section.
The Villa by Rosanna Ley
Secrets of the Lighthouse by Santa Montefiore
Have you read any of these books? If so let me know what you thought of them in the comments.

Happy new year! Pfft. Your night wasn't lame. That's pretty much what the Mister and I did. We watched movies, at finger foods, and skyped with my family on the east coast and watched their ball drop. LoL
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a relaxing night as well.
DeleteHappy New Year to you as well.
PS: I LOVE your hair!
Judy Blume writes wonderful books. Enjoy and have a happy new year!

Have you read In the Unlikely Event? I'm looking forward to reading it. Although it won't be for some time before it comes to the top of my TBR pile.
DeleteHappy New Year to you as well. :)
Happy blogoversary! That's great... and your New Years sounds pretty good. Chinese and a movie... that works. :) It was a quiet one here too, and honestly I like it that way.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Thank you Greg! Happy new year to you. Glad to hear you spent the night as you wanted to. :)
DeleteHope you have a great week as well.
Looks like you have a nice variety of books available for your readathon. I am a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and am loving all the new books starring him. Here is what I read last week. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the newer non-Conan Doyle books. I guess I'm afraid they won't live up to the original.. Maybe one day I will give one a try though.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by Kathy.
I love your post and all of your books. Nice!!
ReplyDeleteThe Villa and The Secrets of The Lighthouse look really good. Gorgeous covers too.
The Day The World Came to Town and The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper look quite good too.
You enjoy....can't wait to hear what you think. You had a wonderful week.
I haven't read or heard of any of these.
Happy New Year!!
