Sunday Wrap-up: May 29 2016

Look at me posting two weekly wrap-ups in a row! Its nice to be getting back into the swing of a blogging schedule after about a month of little involvement.

It's hot as hell here in Ontario and I am so thankful for my AC, even if it is just a small window unit. Everything is so beautiful and green now. This is a great time of year to drive down some back country roads and gaze out over the rolling farmers fields.

My parents garden is blooming nicely. I hope to take some pictures of it to share with you throughout the summer. They planted a vegetable garden and we are starting to see sprouts up already. We are all looking forward to fresh, home grown produce.

My Reading Progress:

I made great progress this past week with my reading. It helps that the books I've selected have been really keeping my interest.

Books Completed:

As I mentioned last week, my partner and I were listening to this book in audio via the Overdrive app. We both really enjoyed it. I gave it 4/5 and can't wait to read the second book in the series,

Friday night we watched the movie adaptation of The Lightning Thief. We both agreed that the book was much better. There were so many important details that were left out, which was disappointing. However I thought it was an okay movie.

Its been years since I read this series, so it is bringing back memories of my childhood when my teacher read the Little House books aloud to the class. I admit the stories don't have the same impact on me now that they had over 20 years ago, but I'm still enjoying it. I gave it 3/5 rating.

Welcome to April everyone! You hear that Mother Nature? Its APRIL. Its supposed to be Springtime but its been snowing like crazy here all day. I guess I shouldn't complain though. It could be worse. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the freezing rain stays away. We got our share of that recently.

Sunday Wrap-up: March 13-20, 2016

Hello everyone and welcome to Spring!

Unfortunately I didn't get a post up last sunday because I was having a lot of problems with my internet. It turns out that a lot of people in my area were going through this as well. It took several days before the connection was back up and running properly, which was quite annoying. Anyway I decided to combine my Sunday Wrap-up for the 13th of March with that of today.

Last week I received the order I placed with Mary Kay and I was so excited to try out all my new products. Stay turned for a haul and review post for that.

Other than that there really hasn't been much excitement on my end. I am really longing to go away even if it is just for a nice or two. We haven't gone away in quite a while. Someplace laid back would be nice, to just recharge. Who knows when that will happen though. Hopefully sooner than later.

I've been making slow reading progress the past two weeks. I'm not sure why. Maybe I am a bit burnt out from the last read-a-thon I participated in. It happens to the best of us though right?

Reading Progress

I finally finished reading Roanoke: The Lost Colony (Keepers of the Ring #1) by Angela Elwell Hunt.
It was an interesting historical fiction about the lost colony who settled on Roanoke however it was very long. I gave it 4/5 rating.

The Red Door Inn (Prince Edward Dreams #1) by Liz Johnson
I hope to get this one finished and reviewed this week sometime. I am really enjoying the P.E.I setting. So beautiful!

Summer of the Roses by Luanne Rice, Narrated by Karen Ziemba
I'm not very far into this audio book yet, but it is just ok. I will listen to one more disk and then decided if I will continue it.

Sunday Wrap-up: March 6 2015

Hello everyone and welcome to yet another Sunday Wrap-up.

This past week I turned another year older. 29 to be exact, on the 1st. As I mentioned on my previous post I went out for dinner last weekend. Also last night we had a family dinner at my parents house.

Last month I went to a vendor show and entered my name in a draw to win a Mary Kay pampering session for me and a couple of friends. Well wouldn't you know, I won! So friday I enjoyed a nice girls day being pampered with facial tutorials, soft hand and lip scrubs and a makeup tutorial. It was a lot of fun and it all felt so nice. Sometimes you just need a girls day, right ladies? I ordered some products as well and I hope to do a Mary Kay haul post once it comes in.

Also this week I finally got the chance to watch a show I've been wanted to see for a while. That show is called When Calls the Heart. I mentioned the show in my February 2015 review for Where Trust Lies by Janette Oke and Laurel Oke Logan as it is based on the series by those authors. I am only half way through the first season, but I am absolutely loving it so far. I can't wait to continue on with the series.

Reading Progress:

I am still participating in the Spring Break Read-a-thon and making great progress.
