For many of us who grew up in the 90’s, February 26 was the
day we have all been waiting for. The anticipated debut of Fuller House! For
those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about; Fuller House is the
original Netflix series that is a spin-off from the popular sit-com Full House.
The original show, followed a widower (Danny Tanner played
by Bob Saget) raising his three young daughters (DJ, Stephanie and Michelle)
with the help of his best friend (Joey played by Dave Couiler) and brother in-law
(Jesse played by John Stamos). The final episode aired in 1995 and now 21 years
later the cast is back.
The premise for Fuller House follows in the same vein
however now oldest daughter DJ (played by Candace Cameron Bure) is a widow
raising her three boys, with the help of younger sister Stephanie (played by
Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy (played by Andrea Barber). Aside from some
new cast members, many familiar faces have come back for guest roles. Although
notably absent is youngest sister Michelle (played by Mary-Kate and Ashley
Olsen).
Watching this new series made me feel like I was being
reunited with a long lost friend. It has brought back to many wonderful
memories from my childhood. It is great to see most of the original cast
members back in their familiar roles and even in the same setting.
My only qualm is that they are laying it on extra thick with the
cheese factor. Although it is charming and chalk full with life lessons, just
like it’s original.
I would recommend Fuller House to other 90’s kids like
myself, who were fans of Full House.
