Month in Review is a meme that is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date.
If you read my previous post Personal Update and Its MondayWhat Are You Reading?, you know that November has been a very stressful month
for me. If not here’s a quick recap:
I found out a couple of weeks ago that I will need to have
heart surgery to replace my 5 ½ year old pacemaker. Then the following day my
Dad had a health scare. So it has been a month of doctor’s appointments and
hospital visits.
All around me everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit,
but even the Ho Ho Ho Read-a-thon couldn’t bring me some joy. So don’t mind me
if I’m all Grinch-y but I’m just not into it this year.
On the bright side I did do something this month that I have
been wanting to do for a long time. I coloured my hair purple! No, not a crazy
bright shade, but a nice plumy red colour. Its darker than I’ve ever gone, but
I love it and it makes me feel good. So yay for that!
This month I participated in my first Blog Tour, which was
fun. I hope I didn’t mess up the post too bad and I look forward to doing more
in the future.
Now let’s talk books..
I completed 4 books in the month of November. I think that I
could have done better, but I was having a hard time concentrating towards the
end because of the personal things I mentioned above. What surprised me the most
is the fact that I’m not as down on myself about it, like I would have been in
previous months. I think the reason for this is because I have impressed myself
with the number of books I have completed so far this year. I have never before
read so many books. If there is anything positive I can take from reality at
this time is that I am proud of myself for this accomplishment.
Here is what I read:
The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom (RATING:
5/5)
Anne and Henry by Dawn Ius (RATING: 2/5)
The Christmas Joy Ride by Melody Carlson (RATING: 3.5/5)

December TBR
Because I will be having surgery next week, I will be taking
some time away from the blog to rest and recuperate. Hopefully I will be in
more of a reading mood during this time, but because I can’t say how things
will go, I am going to keep my December TBR short. Aside from finishing up my
two current readings, I hope to read:
And if that goes well and I am able to finish that book, I
will start:
Thank you for taking the time to check out my November in
Review. I wish you all a wonderful December and happy reading.
I hope your surgery goes well and you have a great recovery. I hope your Dad's fine too. I understand why you might not have the Christmas spirit this year and it's absolutely fine. Take care of yourself sweetie <3
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your new hair looks amazing! Purple sounds cool and sexy :D
Thank you for your kind words Soudha. I hope it all goes well too.
DeletePs.. I may post some pictures of my new hair-do on facebook at some point. :)
Love that you got the colour of your hair exactly in a way that gave you pleasure. Nice to look into the mirror and totally enjoy. All the best again for the surgery, go easy - browse some magazines and rest up.
ReplyDeleteSometimes its the small things in life that bring happiness. Thank you Kathryn.
