Book Haul #3: (June 2015)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme created by Tynga’s Reviews

A few weeks ago I went out for dinner with my family and there just happened to be this nice farmers market set up in the middle of a parking lot. There were all kinds of yummy things for sale: fresh veggies, fruits, cookies, cupcakes and sticky buns. Thankfully we had dinner first or we would have spoiled our appetites. As we walked around I came across a man selling belts and a few books. Strange combination, I know. Well it turns out that he is an author. After selecting a book that interested me, we chatted for a few minutes about his books and I told him that I was a blogger and I would review the book after I read it. Pleased to hear this, he gave me a copy of his newest release and told me about his experiences with other farmers markets in our area.

Here are the two books I picked up that day:

The Conquest of Canada by Wendel Messer, is a historical fiction novel set in the early 1600’s. It follows the struggles of the colonists who came to Canada.

Farmers Market by Wendel Messer is a mystery in similar style of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. It is centered around the death of a man connected to a cottage country farmers market organization. I am almost finished reading this one and hope to get a review up soon.

Mr. Messer was also kind enough to sign both copies for me.Its nice to be able to support local authors.

I am proud of myself this month. I only brought home 2 books. I know that in July I will bring home more because I am going away on vacation and hope to get some books that are local to the places I will be visiting.

How did you do this month? Did you bring in many books or were you able to resist?
Happy reading!

    1. I think they are published by a small Ontario based company. Thanks for stopping by Krystianna.

  2. I love stumbling across little stalls selling books, like, outside of bookstores. You often come home with gems you might have never bought otherwise. You seem to have picked interesting books :)
