Sunday Post #1, #FitReaders Check-in & Stacking the Shelves

Today I am linking up with The Sunday Post (Hosted by: Caffeinated Book Reviewer,) #FitReaders (Hosted by: The Geeky Bloggers BookBlog & That’s What I’m Talking About) and Stacking the Shelves (Hosted by: Tynga’s Reviews).

Because I had so much to share I decided to combine it all into one big post.

Nature Box:
This past week I got my September Nature Box in the mail. Here is what I was sent:

Pistachio Power Clusters: This snack was also in my July box and I just love them.
Cashew Power Clusters: A lot like the Pistachio Power Clusters, but these reminded me more of bite sized rice crispy squares.
Salted Caramel Pretzel Pops: This snack consisted of small pretzel balls dusted with natural powdered sugar and has a caramel flavor. They were good.
Cashew Crumble: This was one of my favourite snacks in this box. It was like eating crumbled peanut butter cookies only instead of peanut flavoured they were cashew flavoured.
South Pacific Plantains: Tasted more like potato chips than plantains, I think. They were good, but I don’t know if they would be on the top of my list to add again.

All in all, I was satisfied once again with my monthly box. I think it is a good value for the money and I do find myself more full after snacking on these treats than I do when I eat regular (less healthy) chips or snacks. I am looking forward to seeing what I get for October.

FitReaders Check-in:

This week I did better with my walking. I went for a walk Tuesday and Wednesday Nights. I was also more active around the house, getting general housework caught up on after not feeling so great last week. Thanks to my Nature Box I made some healthy snacking choices. I have also been doing well with my water intake. Tonight I plan on going for a longer walk or even a bike ride.
My goal for this coming week is to begin doing yoga exercises again. I especially want to focus on Yoga for people who suffer back pain, in hopes to ward off sciatica pain.

August Nature Box

I received my August Nature box at the beginning of the month and just took our time sampling each of the snacks. Here is a lame picture of what I was sent (hah):

A:  Apple Pie Oat Clusters:  I gave this snack a 3/5 rating as I found them to be just ok and probably won't add them to my list again. I hoped that they would be more soft than hard and crunchy.
B: Chocolate Banana Chips: Another 3 star rating. These chips didn't have a lot of chocolate flavor as I had expected. It was basically banana chips with a batter type dusting (for lack of a better description). Personally I prefer just plain banana chips.
C: Probiotic Power Mix: I'm not a lover of cranberries because I find them too tart, however these didn't have such a strong taste, so I was able to enjoy them. The yogurt covered fruit was pretty tasty as well.
D: Mini Belgian Waffles: I was surprised to see these in my box this month as they are usually sold out. The tiny waffles were more like a cookie in crispness and they can be paired up with many different things like ice cream or yogurt.
E: Sweet and Salty Nut Medley: This was my favourite treat in this months box. The nuts were salted and had a honey flavor. I'm looking forward to getting this snack again.

Overall this months box wasn't as satisfying as July's. However I am enjoying trying out new healthy alternatives. I'm looking forward to seeing what will come in September.

Nature Box Subscription July 2015

Sorry to have been MIA for the past couple of weeks, but I have been on vacation with my family and only just got back home to Ontario two days ago. I managed to get a few scheduled posts made and published, but I haven’t been able to be as active visiting other blogs as I normally am. I feel so out of the loop and looking forward to catching up with everyone. Check back for posts about my vacation, coming soon.

I realized a couple of days ago that I didn’t do a post for my July Nature Box subscription. I also forgot (with my rush to pack and prepare for my trip) to take pictures of the snacks I received. Still I wanted to share what I got this past month with you all. Hopefully I will remember to get pictures of my August box.

My July Nature Box arrived just a few short days before I left to go on vacation. This was great because it meant that I could bring some healthy snacks along with me for the drive. The 5 full sized snacks I was sent, certainly didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed them all and even shared some with my other half.

Here is what I received this month:

Pistachio Power Clusters: This snack was absolutely delicious and would make for a good addition to a breakfast on the run.
Sweet Blueberry Almonds: I received a sample pack in my trial box last month and loved them. This time around it was nice to have a full sized back that I could share on the drive.
Lemon Tea Biscuits: I would describe these as mini shortbread cookies with a lemon flavor.
Strawberry Lemonade Fruit Stars: I admit that this was my least favourite of the 5. They tasted ok, but I really only added them to my pantry because my boyfriend wanted to try them. I probably won’t order these again unless he would like to try more.
French Vanilla Almond Granola: Oh my, was this ever good! This bag didn’t make the trip with me because I gobbled it all up before I left. There are so many ways this can be served but the way I enjoyed it was mixed up with a chopped banana.
Total Payment: $24.90

Needless to say I was very pleased with all the goodies in this month’s box. I am very much looking forward to digging into my next shipment.

Do you subscribe to Nature Box? If so what snacks did you receive this month? Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did.

Nature Box Subscription Trial

Lately I have been seeing so many different subscription boxes going around. They range anywhere from books to cosmetics, to food and superhero’s. Sometimes I wonder how people can afford to subscribe to so many. Some of them aren’t cheap. But I do like the idea of them. Its always fun getting a package in the mail. My curiosity got the best of me and I decided to look for one that I can try out. But what to choose? I don’t wear a lot of makeup so it probably wouldn’t be worth my money getting a cosmetic subscription box. I have yet to find a book box that really catches my eye. In the end I decided that a food subscription would be worth my while. Now, you see I have a sweet tooth. I love to snack and often (ok more than often) I don’t eat the most healthy choices. I have been seeing videos and blog posts about Nature Box, with its array of healthy snacks and I thought that this could help influence better snacking. I was a bit worried that these healthy snacks would taste well… healthy, flavorless and bland. However thankfully Nature Box offers a trial box with samples of what you may get in the full size monthly boxes.

A little bit about Nature Box:
What I received:

(Sorry for the crappy pictures)

Masa Crisps: Corn chips with flax seeds. I was surprised by how much flavour these crisps had. They were salty and crispy. I enjoyed them.
Cranberry Medley: Normally I find cranberries too tart, but these weren’t too bad. I would much rather eat these than drink cranberry juice.
Sweet Blueberry Almonds: This snack was one of my favourite from the trial box. The almond and blueberry flavours went really good together. I hope to get these again.
Dark Cocoa Nom Noms: I’m not a lover of dark chocolate or coconut but these were so yummy! They didn’t last long. These came in a full sized bag.
Jalapeno Cashews: This was the only snack from my trial box that I didn’t eat, because I don’t like jalapeno.

All in all I was very pleased with my trial box. The flavours were great, as were the potion sizes and selection. I am really looking forward to getting my first full size Nature Box next month with even more goodies to try. What I love about their website is that each customer has their own pantry, where they select snacks to be added to their upcoming boxes. There is such a huge selection to choose from.

Do you have a subscription to Nature Box or any other subscription boxes? If so leave me a message in the comments. I’d love to hear about them. Are they worth the money?
Stay tuned in July for my next Nature Box post.
Happy snacking!
